When and where to shop local artists and designers in Greenville, Upstate

Worried about holiday shopping? Get into the spirit of the season and support local artists and makers at a festive holiday market. Many of the Upstate’s favorite annual holiday art markets have already opened for the season, with more planned for this weekend and the weekends leading up to Christmas. There are enough holiday markets planned in Spartanburg, Greenville and Anderson counties, and there is one every weekend this month through the end of December. Ready to find gifts? Here are 15 holiday markets to discover in the Upstate:

Spartanburg County Holiday Markets

Spartanburg Artist Collective Annual Holiday Craft Market has already started. The art market, held at 578 W. Main St. in Spartanburg, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through December 28. The market features the work of 38 regional artists, offering a wide range of prices for everything from paintings and sculptures to jewelry, ceramics and pottery. The market is also open late on Thursdays until 8 p.m. for extended shopping and free community craft projects. It will not be open on Thanksgiving.

Landrum Farmers Market Winter Market and Holiday Craft Fair is held every Saturday in November and December 7 and 14 from 8 a.m. to noon in its indoor pavilion (103 N. Randolph Avenue, Landrum). The markets feature local produce, locally made goods and crafts. Santa’s ShopThe Junior League of Spartanburg’s annual holiday market and the organization’s largest fundraiser will be held Nov. 15-17. The market at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium (385 N. Church St., Spartanburg) will feature more than 60 vendors. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Pre-sale admission is $5 online or from a JLS member. Tickets at the door are $10. Dickens of a Christmas will take place on December 3 from 6-9 p.m. in downtown Spartanburg. This annual street festival features a local vendor market, plenty of food and entertainment, and culminates with the lighting of the city’s trees at Denny’s Plaza. THE Merry Christmas market will be held at Chesnee First Baptist Church (211 S. Kentucky Ave., Chesnee) on December 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The holiday market will bring together more than 25 vendors.Christmas Market in Drayton will take place on December 14 from noon to 5 p.m. at Drayton Mills Marketplace (1800 Drayton Road, Spartanburg). It will feature local vendors, festive food and drinks, a Whoville Stuffy prank event and photos with The Grinch.

The event was presented by the Greenville Rotary and the Greenville Drive and featured artisan vendors, food and drinks and entertainment from local bands and artists. Greenville County Holiday Markets

THE Independent Craft Parade Holiday Pop-up store has already opened for the season. Located at 2909 Old Buncombe Road in Greenville, it is open Friday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. until December 22. The shop offers local handmade products including mugs, jewelry, art prints, toys, food gifts and clothing. THE Greenville Christmas Market will take place at the Grand Bohemian Lodge (44 E. Camperdown Way, Greenville). Running weekends from November 9 to December 31, it will feature a local vendors’ market, live music, Christmas food and photos with Santa. Entrance is free, full program of events is available on the market website.SE Punk Flea Market returns to Greenville from November 29 to December. 1 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for their biggest market of the year. Their Holiday Market will be held at the Greenville Shrine Club (119 Beverly Road, Greenville) and will feature a variety of vendors offering artwork, handmade clothing, vintage finds and much more. Admission costs $10 and is valid for all three days. The 2024 Holiday Fair and Kringle Village which will be held at the Greenville Convention Center (1 Exposition Drive, Greenville) will take place December 5-7. The event features a market with more than 400 vendors, live music and fun for the whole family, from a kids’ zone and silent auction to a family movie night, a children’s-themed food court Beer Garden and a hot chocolate bar. General admission tickets cost $11.63 per day and allow entry from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. TD Saturday Market Holiday Edition will take place on December 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition to its usual seasonal produce and specialty foods, this farmers market will feature festive crafts and other Christmas gifts for sale on Main Street in downtown Greenville. Santa Claus will be present; Photos are encouraged, but you must take them yourself.

Anderson County Holiday Markets

The 13th edition Holly Jolly Holiday Fair will take place at the Anderson Civic Center (3027 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Anderson) November 15-17. The fair will feature 200 vendors offering handmade and vintage gifts, live entertainment, craft classes and more. Tickets are still available for $15 for 3 p.m. entry or 6 p.m. entry for the Friday VIP event from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are also available for Saturday entry from noon to 6 p.m. or 2 to 6 p.m. for $8 and for general admission on Sundays from The Anderson County Women’s Club will hold its annual Women’s Bazaar Parties November 22 and 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Marshall Orr House (809 W. Market St., Anderson). The bazaar will feature holiday gift baskets, homemade foods and crafts. The Anderson County Farmers Market will hold its Holiday Market on Saturdays from November 30th to December 30th. 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market is located at 401 N. Murray Ave. in downtown Anderson. The market will feature 40 local vendors offering locally grown produce and handmade items perfect for holiday gift giving. The new Electric City Christmas Market will take place December 6 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and December 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Carolina Wren Park (111 E Whitner St., Anderson) in downtown Anderson. The market will feature local artisans and will be conveniently located near the Ice in the Park skating rink.
