    Diwali will be celebrated around the world on October 31, and before festival of lights Google has released three unique interactive experiences on its search page. Deviating from its usual practice of commemorating events with static or animated Doodles, Google introduced a feature that allows users to digitally light virtual diyas (oil lamps), create rangoli and enjoy treats. This interactive element brings Diwali’s most cherished traditions to life on screen, allowing users to immerse themselves in the spirit of the festival in a new and engaging way.

    Type “Diwali” for a super lit experience
    Type “Rangoli” to create a rangoli rangoli on your screen
    Type ‘Diwali Sweets‘ for a sweet surprise

    How to play Google’s secret Diwali game

    Although there are three different games, the process to access them is quite simple.

    • Visit the Google home page and go to Google.com.
    • Search for “Diwali” in the search bar
    • Click on the glittering diya icon that appears on your screen just below the search bar.
    • Once you click on it, it will replace your cursor and can be moved anywhere on the screen.
    • The screen darkens slightly and eight more unlit diyas appear on the screen.
    • Users can move the lit diya/slider to light up other diyas
    • As each diya lights up, the stars twinkle on the screen and the home screen lights up

    A similar process can be followed with two other games: Rangoli and Sweets.

    • Type “Rangoli” into the search bar on Google.com
    • Click the button that appears at the bottom of the screen.
    • Once you click on it, the rangoli continues to update with a more extensive design.
    • When finished, the stars twinkle on the screen

    To access the candy game:

    • Type “Diwali Sweets” into the search bar on Google.com
    • Click the button that appears at the bottom of the screen.
    • Once you click on it, desi candies will start appearing from the bottom.
    • The more you tap, the more candies fill the screen.
