The Karnataka State Food Department has started to firmly address the issue of food quality. While the use of artificial colors and chemicals in Manchurian cabbage has already been banned, golgappa fans are worried as they fear the food safety department will also ban their beloved spicy watery delight.

The food safety department has installed rapid food testing kits in public places and shopping malls and intensified inspections to identify poor quality food products. This follows repeated complaints about the quality of golgappas.
