    Cash App users have less than 24 hours to file a claim to get money from a $15 million settlement.

    If their Cash App account was part of a data and security breach in December 2021, users of the mobile payment service have until Monday, November 18 at 11 p.m. PT (or Tuesday before 2 a.m. ET) to file a claim .

    In a class-action lawsuit obtained by USA TODAY, the plaintiffs sued Cash App Investing and Block Inc. for the companies’ “failure to exercise due diligence in securing and protecting consumer information.”

    The lawsuit came after the December 2021 data breach that resulted in “the unauthorized public disclosure of the personally identifiable information of 8.2 million current and former Cash App Investing customers.”

    Additionally, a former employee gained access to Cash App users’ personal information during their employment and downloaded the data without the users’ knowledge, the lawsuit states.

    As part of the settlement, the mobile payment service was ordered to pay $15 million in damages.

    If users made unauthorized and fraudulent withdrawals or fund transfers from their Cash App account between August 23, 2018 and before August 20, 2024, they can submit a claim of up to $2,500, the Cash App Website said.

    • Personal losses: Users can submit a claim showing that their Cash App account was involved in the data breach. If a user is eligible for a refund after submitting the required documents to the company, they could receive up to $2,500.
    • Lost time: Cash App users who submit a claim may be entitled to reimbursement for lost time. Users can submit a claim for up to three hours at a rate of $25 per hour for time spent regarding unauthorized users and data breach.
    • Transaction losses: If a user has suffered a monetary loss and has not been reimbursed, they will be able to submit a claim.

    What is the Cash App Security settlement deadline?

    On November 7, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California granted changes to deadlines regarding this regulationaccording to court records. However, the deadline to file a claim will remain Monday, November 18.

    What happens if I have multiple Cash App accounts?

    Users only need to submit one claim form. But if you have multiple Cash App accounts that you want to submit a claim for, the mobile payments service recommends users list all of their Cashtags ($cashtag) and claim information on a single claim form, Cash said App.

    A Cashtag is an identifier used for Cash App users to send money to each other. This can be found in the profile section of your account which is located under the username.

    How do I submit a claim?

    To file a claim, Cash App users can submit a completed claim form by November 18 to https://cashappsecuritysettlement.com/submit-claim.
