Where to Vote in SC on Election Day. Here’s how to find your polling station

The big day has finally arrived.

It’s Election Day and if you haven’t taken advantage of early voting in South Carolina, now is the time to vote. But unlike the early voting period, Election Day voters must go to their assigned polling place to vote in the general election.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, but if you’re not sure where to go, we’ve got you covered. Find tools to find your polling location below, as well as additional information to know before you vote.

How do I find my polling place in South Carolina?

THE South Carolina Election Commission has an easy way to find polling locations online. The only catch is that you have to be registered to vote. Unfortunately, if you have not registered, it is too late to do so for the general election.

To find your SC polling place, click here.

The link will take you to a site that asks for basic information, including the county you are registered in, your name, date of birth, and the last four digits of your Social Security number. Fill in this information and the site will tell you your polling location and offer directions on Google Maps to get there.

What should you bring to the polls?

Don’t forget to bring your South Carolina driver’s license to the polls.

If you don’t have a driver’s license, don’t worry. Other forms of identification are accepted, including:

  • SC Department of Motor Vehicles ID card, which includes an SC concealed weapons permit

  • SC Voter Registration Card with Photo

  • American passport

  • Federal Military ID Card, which includes all Department of Defense photo IDs and the Department of Veterans Affairs Benefits Card.

What should you do if you have photo ID but forget to bring it?

Even if you don’t have a photo ID in person at your polling place, you can still vote with a provisional ballot. However, the ballot will only count if you present your photo ID to your county’s registrar of voters office before an election is certified, which usually takes place Thursday or Friday.
