MNLU, call for papers, journal, corporate laws and trade regulations

The Journal on Corporate Law & Commercial Regulators (CLCR) is a double-blind, peer-reviewed, student-run journal published twice a year, based and published at the Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai (MNLU M), devoted exclusively to the study of the interface between corporate and commercial law and other transdisciplinary subjects. It is guided by a student editorial board, a peer review committee of expert academicians, and an advisory board of veterans of the field.

The Journal on Corporate Laws & Commercial Regulators invites submissions for its Volume 02 Issue 01. Submissions are invited from academicians, lawyers, researchers and law students on the subject having significant implication on international corporate law or national and interdisciplinary work.

Submission Categories

1. Article : An article should be a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of the issue(s) or idea(s) addressed by the author, and should include references to a range of sources and contributions in the form of alternatives and suggestions. This includes –

  • Long articles: 6,000 to 10,000 words
  • Short articles: 2,000 to 6,000 words

2. Commentary on the case (1,200 to 4,000 words) – The commentary must be a critical analysis of a recent subject, highlighting its relevance in light of the evolution of the laws, the opinions expressed in the judgment and the opinions of the author.

3. Book review (1,000 to 3,000 words) – The review should be a clear and analytical account of a recently published book. They encourage authors to juxtapose the arguments made in the book with other academic or scientific work, or with their critical view of the issue.

4. Legislative commentary (1,000 to 3,000 words) – These comments should analyze recent legislation and comprehensively describe the purpose and potential impact of the legislation. Objectivity is encouraged, but personal comments are also welcome.

The word limit for all categories mentioned above excludes footnotes.

Submission Guidelines

1. Eligibility: Applications will be accepted from students enrolled in 5 or 3 year law courses, legal professionals, teachers, researchers, policy makers, senior academicians or any other member of the legal fraternity.

2. Co-authorship of applications (maximum 2) between people belonging to the same or different institutions is permitted. However, multiple applications from the same author will not be accepted. Even if only one of the two authors sends two manuscripts, the one sent first will be accepted.

3. Entries must be original, unpublished and non-plagiarized.

A. The Journal only accepts original articles published by the authors, and any republication of articles from other journals will not be accepted in any form. Cross-posting of original CLCR content is permitted for the following reasons:

  • The authors include a line before the start of the cross-posting text, stating: “This article/interview was originally published in the Journal On Corporate Laws & Commercial Regulators (CLCR) on (date: month, day, year).” This line must be present at the top of the cross-published article.
  • No changes or alterations are made to the content of the article as published in the Journal.

b. Authors are requested to acknowledge and cite their sources and provide appropriate references.

c. Additionally, any information revealed in the Submission, which comes from a personal conversation with a third party, requires explicit written permission from the third party.

4. Submissions will be considered for publication provided they refrain from infringing the rights of third parties. Additionally, it is required that the submitted work refrain from incorporating any material of an obscene, offensive or defamatory nature.

5. Submitted material must not include the author’s name, institutional affiliation, or any other information that could compromise the review process by revealing the identity of the author.

6. Quote style: Footnotes must be properly cited in strict accordance with the style guide published on the Journal’s website. In case the citation type is not covered in the style guide, the author is requested to rely on the Bluebook citation (21st edition). The Journal recognizes that the citation from the Bluebook (21st edition) is not freely available and, in such cases, the citation relied upon in the authority itself may be accepted.

7. Footnotes or explanatory parentheses will be considered at the discretion of the editorial board and the requirements of the journal. A guideline elaborated on this will be published soon on their official website.

  • Line spacing: 1.5
  • Page format: A4
  • Margin – 1′ on all sides
  • Alignment: justified

8. Interested authors must submit an abstract of 200 to 250 words maximum accompanied by at least 5 keywords. The general submission guidelines will also govern the submission of abstracts.

9. Authors may submit manuscripts according to the guidelines set out above by completing the form, accessing here.

Editorial policy

1. Open Access Policy – ​​All articles published in the Journal will be available on the Journal website without time limit and free of charge.

2. Submissions are accepted for publication provided they do not infringe the rights of any third party. All submissions will be processed through anti-plagiarism software and plagiarism in any form will result in instant rejection of the submission.

3. After review, manuscripts may be returned to the authors with suggested changes to content, style or structure. Acceptance of the article for publication may be conditional on the incorporation of suggestions.

4. The withdrawal of the manuscript must be notified to the team by mail. No withdrawals will be authorized after the author has responded with acceptance to the team’s confirmation email.

5. All content must be submitted in English. That said, once publication is approved, one or more translated copies may be published, provided that the translation is carried out either by the author(s) themselves or through a trusted third party of their own agreement. . Please note that any translated version will be published alongside the English version and not in place of it. Authors are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to translate their text into the working language of the context in which they are interested, so that their message can reach a wider audience.

Review Process

1. The review process is a two-stage double-blind peer review.

2. The jury would consider various factors such as relevance to the theme of the blog, accuracy of facts, depth of analysis, coherence of arguments and finally the language and structure of the content.

3. Generally, the author(s) will be notified of acceptance/rejection within 10 days of submission. However, the review process may take longer in exceptional circumstances.
