A man has been charged with assaulting and sexually assaulting two teenage girls in South Ayrshire.

Police said a 68-year-old man was arrested and charged following the assaults on Prestwick Road, which runs from Prestwick to Ayr, at around 7.30pm on Saturday.

He was released on a recognizance to appear in court at a later date.

A Police Scotland statement said: “A 68-year-old man has been arrested and charged following the alleged assault and sexual assault of two teenage girls on Prestwick Road, Ayr at around 7.30pm on Saturday 16 November.

“He was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.”
