Earn up to 3% cash back on all your 2024 holiday purchases with this Chase Rewards card

Since each family member has their own interests, buying Christmas gifts can mean finding a plot from different stores. For me, that means a different rewards credit card for almost every stop, as I strive to maximize purchase rewards at each location.

However, if you’re not inclined to track and manage half a dozen different credit cards, I have a much simpler solution for you: a flat-rate rewards card. Specifically, the Chase Freedom Unlimited® Card.

While this card is still a good choice for a one-card wallet thanks to unlimited 1.5% cash back, the current limited-time welcome bonus makes it an even better option for your holiday shopping this year.

Double your cash back for a limited time

The offer: Earn 1.5% more on everything you buy (on up to $20,000 spent in the first year), worth up to $300 cash back. That’s 6.5% on travel purchased through Chase Travel℠, 4.5% on dining and drugstores, and 3% on all other purchases.

So that’s an effective 3% cash back rate on all your holiday purchases – unless you buy something really, really big – regardless of where you find the gift voucher. This is the easiest way I can think of to get such a great rate on all your purchases (without multiple cards).

Wondering what 3% cash back looks like? Here is the calculation:

Other benefits of Chase Freedom Unlimited®

If you think this card is only good for the welcome offer, let me show you some other features you can take advantage of:

  • Earn 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase Travel: You can also redeem your rewards on the portal, although it’s not the best value you’ll find.
  • Unlimited 3% cash back at eligible pharmacies, restaurants, takeout and food delivery: Ideal for foodies who love eating out as much as ordering out.
  • Unlimited 1.5% cash back on all other purchases: Once you hit the welcome bonus cap or the offer ends, you’ll still earn 1.5% cash back on purchases without categories or activation.

You can easily redeem cash back for a statement credit, which is the simplest and most straightforward option. Or you can pair this card with a Sapphire card for better value.

Combine your rewards to travel for free

Technically, Chase Freedom Unlimited® earns Ultimate Rewards points. If you only have Freedom cards, it’s usually best to use those points to get cash back.

However, your options open up if you also have one of these travel rewards cards:

If you also have an eligible Chase travel rewards card, you can combine all of your points and transfer them to a travel partner. This includes more than a dozen hotel and airline loyalty programs where you can turn your rewards into free hotel stays and flights.

This welcome offer is only available for a limited time, so if you’re interested, you should act as soon as possible.
