SoCal voters have already cast early ballots by the millions before Election Day

LOS ANGELES (KABC)– Millions of California voters cast ballots by mail or drop-off in the days leading up to Tuesday’s election.

In Los Angeles County, more than 600 voting centers opened this weekend.

As of Monday, Los Angeles County officials estimate that 1.7 million votes have already been cast, or about 30% of the county’s registered voters. LA County voters can vote at any voting center, regardless of where they live. There are a lot of races, so officials are urging voters to bring their absentee ballots, which have been mailed to every registered voter.

LA County Registrar/Recorder Dean Logan says the sample ballots feature a QR code that can be used for quick check-in at the polling location.

In San Bernardino County, about 300,000 votes have been cast so far. In Riverside County, 460,000; Ventura County, 210,000; and Orange County, 780,000. For OC, this represents 42% of registered voters, the highest turnout rate so far in the region.

“We’ve been processing ballots since October 8, so we have people who were working yesterday, and today they’re staying on top of processing mail-in ballots and serving voters in person,” Bob Page said , the Orange County Registrar of Voters. “We increased the number of voting centers we had yesterday, from 38 in the first week to 184 yesterday.”
