Mr Wood also ignored a colleague’s suggestions about an address where a potential offender was located and allegedly downplayed the seriousness of the situation.

He was questioned after his behavior was reported by younger colleagues, to whom he set “a poor example” and “displayed unprofessional attitudes”.

“The incident for which he was deployed posed a high threat and risk to the public, involving armed individuals,” Mr Rodenhurst added.

“He lied to the control room about the actions he had taken and, in doing so, misled the control room about the nature of the potential threat.

“PC Wood’s actions compromised an investigation, resulting in a delay in obtaining evidence. Additionally, an opportunity to apprehend offenders involved in violence and weapons on our streets has potentially been lost.
