Tamil cinema’s beloved couple Suriya and Jyothika have won hearts with their chemistry both on and off screen. The duo, who married in 2006, have acted in several films together, including Poovellam Kettuppar, Kaakha Kaakha, Perazhagan, Maayavi and Ponmagal Vandhal. And it looks like fans may get another chance to see the real-life couple together on screen.

In a recent interview, Suriya was asked about sharing screen space with his wife. The Tamil star immediately admitted that he was hoping to reunite with his frequent collaborator. “I really wish and hope that it will happen soon,” the actor told PTI. Further, sharing how he manifests his dream, Suriya added, “But we don’t make those plans.”

Soorarai Pottru fame explained that although he wants to reunite with Jyothika on screen, they never take the first step to approach makers for a script. Instead, they want to be chosen authentically. Suriya continued, “We don’t take the first step and say, ‘Let’s do this, or ask the director, or ask for a script.’ It should be more organic. Directors should want to ask us because they want to see us as these characters. Manifest, ask the universe to happen.

In the same conversation, Suriya spoke about playing dual roles in his upcoming film, Kanguva. The fantasy action film will be released on November 14. Backed by UV Creations and Studio Green, the film also stars Bobby Deol and Disha Patani in key roles. Suriya will be seen in dual characters: the titular Kanguva and Francis Theodore.

While discussing his upcoming film, Suriya shared his tendency to avoid dual roles. However, despite his best efforts, he found himself playing dual characters in several films, including Perazhagan, Vel, Vaaranam Aayiram and 7aum Arivu. He even played a triple role in 24. Suriya shared, “I try my best to avoid double roles. But by chance, I did more than six-seven films and a triple role in 24. I had many arguments with my director saying that it had nothing to do with it. I don’t look like my father and my father doesn’t look like me. But in this film, there is a chronology. I think once you watch the movie you might understand why the same actor plays this character.”

Suriya and Jyothika got married in September 2006 and are parents to two adorable children, Diya and Dev.
