Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels is on track to play Sunday against the Chicago Bears, according to ESPN. Adam Schefter.

Schefter reported that “all signs point” to him being available, while NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport provided more context:

THE #Commanders will make a team decision on whether quarterback Jayden Daniels will play today, but sources say there’s a realistic chance he will against the #Bear.

Schefter cited a Commanders official who called Daniels a “tough guy” and said “he would want to play if he was missing his right leg.”

The former LSU star and 2023 Heisman Trophy winner suffered a rib injury in the first quarter of his team’s 40-7 victory over the Carolina Panthers on October 20 and promptly left the game.

Daniels I haven’t practiced the following Wednesday or Thursday but took place in a limited session on Friday.

The No. 2 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has been a true superstar for the Commanders, completing an NFL-high 75.6 percent of his passes for 1,410 yards, six touchdowns and just two interceptions during his seven first departures. Daniels also put it on the ground, totaling 372 yards and four touchdowns.

Thanks in large part to his efforts, Washington started the year 5-2, good enough for first place in the NFC East.

Without Daniels, the Commanders would turn to Marcus Mariota, who took over as QB1 against Carolina. The 10-year veteran completed 18 of 23 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 34 yards in the 33-point victory.
