Richmond Police Honor New Class of Hispanic Citizens Academy Graduates

RICHMOND, Va. — The Richmond Police Department’s Hispanic Academy graduated 15 men and women after a seven-week training program covering topics including robbery prevention, police encounters, first aid and awareness to mental health.

The training, led by Richmond Police Hispanic Liaison Officer Jasmine Perez, aimed to equip graduates with community assistance skills.

“This knowledge that they acquire, this inner workings, these laws that they learn, their civil rights that they learn, all of this is going to allow them to go further in the future of their lives, and passed it on to their family and friends,” Perez said.
