Doctor Who hints at plot twist with Christmas special title confusion

Doctor Who fans have another mystery to solve before this year’s Christmas special, following the release of a new official poster.

The sci-fi, which airs on the BBC in the UK and Disney Plus internationally, previously announced that this year’s festive episode will be called Joy to the world.

However, in the new artwork revealed by Disney Plus to coincide with Doctor Who Day, the title is instead printed under the title Joy to the Worlds.

While fans initially thought the plural “Worlds” was a mistake, the Disney Doctor Who social media account responded to the comments to indicate something else was afoot.

In response to a fan asking why there was an “s” at the end of the title, the @disneydoctorwho Instagram wrote: “We won’t get any spoilers.”

Another subscriber asking the same question got the answer: “Tune in on Christmas Day to find out”, while a separate comment from the official account added: “WORLDS? ???? I have to log in to see what this means!”

This has led some to speculate that there might be a multiversal twist, while others have wondered if the UK and international versions of the episode might be slightly different.
