Lincoln falls silent to mark Armistice Day 2024

Hundreds of people attended a service in Lincoln to honor those who died in both world wars.

Dignitaries, veterans and members of the public gathered at the war memorial in St Benedict’s Square for Armistice Day, which takes place each year to mark the end of the First World War.

Lincoln Mayor Councilor Alan Briggs laid a wreath on behalf of the council.

The service was hosted by the Royal British Legion and a bugle player played the Last Post before a two-minute silence was observed.

Jessica Sunley, from the Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force Regimental Band, performed the Last Post, while the Reverend Steve Holt, from Boultham Parish, provided the words for the service.
