“Society shouldn’t decide for you” — Emem Ime Okwuche on why women need to be more assertive | #HerMoneyHerPower

As a woman, have you ever been afraid to ask for a promotion or raise, or to speak out against injustice, simply because you didn’t want to appear too direct, aggressive or bossy? Have you hesitated to apply for opportunities due to a lack of confidence?

In this episode of #HerMoneyHerPowerjournalist, actor and public relations consultant Eme Ime OkwuchWe emphasize that for women to achieve economic power, they must not hesitate to step into the spotlight and claim their place. Women must learn to develop their self-esteem and self-confidence.

For Eme, economic power means a woman being able to make positive decisions, large and small, for herself and her family. These decisions can have a significant impact on one’s life and career.

To achieve economic power, women must feel comfortable and demand more for themselves. Eme points out that women are often characterized as aggressive when asserting their rights. “Why not?” she asks, emphasizing that we now live in a time where women contribute significantly to their families and to society. This reality means that women must demand what they deserve to effectively fulfill their financial responsibilities.

No label should dissuade women from pursuing what they want. Eme also shared personal experiences where she had to defend herself. Women must learn to assert themselves and actively pursue their goals instead of letting society dictate their path. This is the only way for women to gain real economic power.
