The significant increase in political donations from owners can be attributed largely – but not exclusively – to the addition of the Walton-Penner ownership group, which purchased the Denver Broncos in 2022.

Arthur Blank, owner of the Atlanta Falcons ($3.3 million), David Tepper, owner of the Carolina Panthers ($2.9 million) and Woody Johnson, owner of the New York Jets ($1.8 million dollars) are among other NFL executives who have eclipsed seven figures in donations.

In response to a request for comment, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy wrote in an email that “it is up to club personnel to determine which candidates and causes they will contribute to.”
