LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) – The Lynchburg Police Department is searching for a possible suspect who was injured after an altercation at the University of Lynchburg on Sunday.

Police said officers responded to reports of an altercation at 8:30 p.m. in which the victim reported being punched several times in the head and that a knife may have been involved.

Police say the victim said she did not see a knife but had reason to believe one was there after reporting blood coming from a scratch on her forehead.

Police say the suspect is described as a man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and red shoes.

According to the police, based on the information currently collected, the incident cannot be classified as an intentional injury.

The incident remains under investigation.
