Aaron Rodgers may have convinced Al Michaels that the Jets can run the table

The New York Jets awoke from a prolonged halftime slumber Thursday night to score 21 points in the second half and look a lot like an NFL football team. A quality win against the Houston Texans temporarily saved their season, although at 3-6 they still face a steep slope to get back to .500 let alone compete for a playoff spot.

But hey, the Jets can only take it win by win, and there have been great signs of life from Aaron Rodgers and the wide receiving corps. Garrett Wilson returned the catch of the year and Davante Adams salted things up with a late landing for a rare feel-good night at MetLife.

At the very least, the conversation around the Jets and Rodgers will have to change until their next game. Maybe Al Michaels gave us a glimpse of what’s to come when the Amazon stream ends.

“Aaron is very intelligent. Obviously, whatever you think of him, he’s a polarizing character,” Michaels said. “We know that. He’s a very educated, very intelligent, very convincing guy. We’re sitting there going ‘wait a second, they can’t run the table.’ And then he makes you believe they can.”

“Yeah, once we were done…he made a good point,” Kirk Herbstreit added. “They have a chance if they can win on Thursday, who knows?”

It’s unclear exactly what Rodgers’ reading habits have to do with all of this, but here is the Jets’ remaining schedule:

Maybe it’s not that far-fetched. Outside of the Buffalo Bills, every team is beatable. Most of them have their own problems. Still, it’s remarkable that everyone agrees that the sky is falling on the Jets and all hope is lost, and then a few hours later there’s talk of an 11-6 result.

It kind of makes a person wonder how serious this all is.
