Homeworld 3’s last big update launches this week, after the developers decided to unify the remaining plans

Developer Blackbird Interactive has detailed its upcoming final update for Homeworld 3.

This massive update, which the team describes as being “the size of a mothership” with a “gargantuan number” of improvements and more, is scheduled to go live on November 21.

It will include a combat overhaul, while Blackbird has also completely redone how damage and armor work in the game. Additionally, on the multiplayer side, the team has significantly increased the difficulty of opponents to Standard AI and Difficult in Skirmish. This was done following community feedback.

This update will be the culmination of the revised Homeworld 3 roadmap, which has been announced in Septemberas the “unifying delivery” of all remaining paid DLC and free content.

“To be clear, this means that while we won’t be expanding Homeworld 3 with more content, we still want to ensure a positive experience for players,” the statement said. the team wrote today.

“(Publisher) Gearbox will carefully monitor incoming reports and address any widespread critical issues that may arise following the launch of update 1.3. Homeworld 3’s multiplayer functionality and mod support (including browser of mods in the game) will remain online.

Upon release, Will Judd of Digital Foundry gave Homeworld 3 three stars out of five.

“25 years after the original Homeworld and 22 years after the second (weaker) installment, Homeworld 3 does not meet the high bar to eclipse its predecessors and become the new best Homeworld,” he wrote in Eurogamer’s Homeworld 3 review from July.
