Lesley Manville on the connection between the Grotesquerie men’s rights club and the elections

The group is full of anti #MeToo and ‘pronoun exhausted’ men

Lesley Manville shed light on the heartbreaking themes explored in the latest episode of Grotesquerie — and how this scary “men’s rights group” is a warning about how to vote in today’s presidential election. Grotesquerie explored many dark themes throughout its episodes, but it was this twist that all the men in Lois’ life were actually part of such a dangerous group that was the scariest. Lesley Manville, who played Nurse Redd/Cherry Redd in Grotesquerieexplains that this is actually a story about the state of the nation and that this group in particular reminds us to choose wisely in elections.

The latest episode of Grotesquerie sees Marshall being accused of sexual assault by his students. As he prepares to commit suicide, Travis Kelce’s character Ed finds him and introduces him to the Mexicali group of men. This group of men, which includes just about every major male character on the show, including Dr. Charlie and Lois’s therapists, pick on pronouns and feel like there’s a hunt for witches against men. It’s all a little too real. You just know they all listen to Joe Rogan.

Talk to The Hollywood ReporterLesley Manville spoke about the important message behind Grotesquerie and how a cautionary note can be drawn when voting in the election.

Manville explained, “Be careful what you vote for. Think carefully before checking the box. Look, it’s a brutal series, with all its many layers. There’s a very dark image and message going on, and I think it’s there in big, bold letters. And I think that’s part of why Ryan wanted to do the show. You might say, “Well, this isn’t your typical state-of-the-nation drama.” ” But in many ways, it kind of is. There is a slightly prophetic nature to the whole series. But yes, think carefully, Americans, when you vote.
