“I put my hand in…”: Josh Brolin recalls a time he almost fought Denzel Washington

Josh Brolin has his list of favorite actors, which includes some pretty big names, including Denzel Washington.

However, there was a moment where the Equalizer actor almost got into a fight with Brolin.

This interesting story comes from the filming of the 2007 film American Gangster.

As the No Country for Old Men actor recalled on a recent episode of In Depth with Graham Bensinger, he said that Denzel Washington showed up late to the set of their movie one day.

He then added that while the Man on Fire actor didn’t change the lines that were supposed to be read by Brolin, Denzel did somehow change their placement.

“He said, ‘I think I’m going to put this here, and I’m going to put this up there.’ But he wasn’t really looking at me,” the Avengers: Infinity War actor recalls.

Later in the episode, Brolin said that he and Washington then rehearsed their lines.

However, during the exchange, the Sicario: Day of the Soldado actor added that he was supposed to be confident.

While Washington and Josh Brolin practiced their role, the latter had forgotten his lines.

“And I put my hand on his shoulder and said, ‘What’s the line?’ And he hit my hand and he said, ‘Don’t ever put your hand on me,'” the Brother actor said.

He then added, “And I was like, ‘Holy shit, I’m going to part ways with Denzel Washington.’ According to reports, it was Brolin who had to calm down, as Denzel Washinton was in character.

Soon watching the Remember the Titans actor’s reaction, Brolin asked him if he was okay, and Washington replied, “Yeah.” You?”

The Labor Day actor then gave a solemn affirmation asking if they could return to rehearsal.

Even though it was a short feud between two big stars, today they share a cute bond.

American Gangster is a Ridley Scott film that had a star-studded cast including Russell Crowe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Idris Elba, as well as Carla Gugino, Norman Reedus and John Ortiz.
