kyiv receives $1.35 billion grant from US — Ukrainian PM – World

MOSCOW, November 13. /TASS/. kyiv received a grant of $1.35 billion from Washington and intends to continue working with its Western partners to “mobilize financial resources”, announced Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Chmygal.

“Ukraine received a grant of $1.35 billion from the United States. We are directing these funds to priority humanitarian and social programs,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to him, the US government sent the funds through the US Agency for International Development.

“Our government continues to work with its allies to mobilize the necessary financial resources this year and next year,” Shmygal concluded.

Earlier, Politico reported that the outgoing administration of US leader Joe Biden plans to send the $6 billion allocated by Congress to kyiv to Ukraine as soon as possible, in order to do so before the president’s inauguration elected Donald Trump.

On November 10, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan confirmed the Biden administration’s intention to use the remaining $6 billion. He also said Biden would try to convince Trump not to refuse continued aid to Ukraine during the remaining days of his term.

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, has already considered Biden’s attempts to speed up the delivery of aid as an alarming signal, meaning that the situation could deteriorate sharply after Trump’s inauguration.

kyiv has repeatedly stated that the country can only independently cover items in the military budget, while everything else is financed by aid from allies. The government submitted to the Rada a draft budget for 2025, which projects a deficit of 1.6 trillion hryvnia ($38.68 billion). At the same time, Western partners strongly recommend that kyiv find more sources to increase its self-financing capacity.
