The local governments of Marikina and Mandaluyong announced on Monday (November 11) the suspension of classes in private and public schools in their cities due to the possible effects of severe tropical storm “Nika”.

Both cities canceled classes at all levels, including asynchronous classes, as Signal No. 1 is lifted in Metro Manila on Sunday afternoon.

The Marikina government said the order was also in line with Ministry of Education Order No. 37, Art. 2022, or the Guidelines for Suspension of Classes in Case of Natural Disasters or Calamities, classes are automatically suspended in public schools in areas where the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued the tropical cyclone warning signals 1, 2, 3 or 4. .
