Dana Carvey opened up about Kamala Harris’ reaction to his Joe Biden act on Saturday Night Live, where he performed alongside Maya Rudolph and Andy Samberg.

While the actor played the role of the current President of the United States, Rudolph played Harris and Samberg played the role of Kamala’s husband, Doug Emhoff. During his appearance on the Superfly podcast, Carvey claimed the vice president laughed so much while watching him embrace Joe Biden.

During a conversation with the podcast host, the actor-comedian opened up about Harris’ appearance alongside Rudolph during the cold open of the SNL sketch.

The Wayne’s World actor revealed: “She did the opening act cold, and it was a very…regardless of your political commitment, it was a very human moment, the way the audience, the emotion of the audience for her in that studio for about two minutes, I couldn’t help but cheer you up.

Speaking about the political figure’s appearance, Carvey added: “I mean, it was just kind of emotional.” The comedian then revealed that even though Harris visited Rudolph in his dressing room, he too was there and still in Biden’s outfit.

Dana remembers throwing every president-related punch in front of the Indian-American in less than a minute of interaction, and “She laughed so hard. She was leaning over laughing.”

Aside from being in the same room as Harris, the actor added that his safety was at risk. Carvey joked that he was “dressed like a tomato” in front of the vice president’s bodyguards, who were quite tall and armed. He said he had never felt so feminine in his life.

Among the bodyguards were Secret Service agents who ensured that Harris remained unharmed at all times. However, Carvey wasn’t sure how to react to them. He joked that when he walked among these guards dressed like Biden, he gave a little salute gesture like a commander in chief.

At the same time, the actor also detailed the atmosphere on the film sets, before the arrival of the vice-president. He said everyone was eagerly awaiting his appearance. When Harris got out of her car, she smiled widely and looked around the sets before getting ready for her appearance in the act.
