Looting breaks out in Los Angeles, bus burned amid World Series celebrations

Police issued dispersal orders in downtown Los Angeles and made arrests following reports of looting, vandalism and a hostile crowd throwing fireworks at the police officers and set fire to a bus after the events. Dodgers win World Series against New York Yankees.

The Los Angeles Police Department in several articles on said several businesses were looted and property vandalized during the “violent celebrations” of the Dodgers’ victory.

The department shared a video on X showing people running out of a Nike store with boxes and merchandise visible.

Police told X that people in the crowd threw fireworks and “various projectiles” at officers, sparking calls for additional resources.

At one point, the crowd “surrounded an MTA bus and attempted to set it on fire,” according to police, who said the incident occurred near Sunset Boulevard and Echo Park. Photographers then captured images of a metro bus engulfed in flames.

Throughout the night, officers issued dispersal orders in the city center.

Police arrested at least 12 people in the downtown and Echo Park neighborhoods, said Drake Madison, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department. Six face commercial burglary charges, four were arrested on receiving theft of property charges and two were arrested on failure to disperse charges, Madison said.

THE Los Angeles Dodgers won its eighth World Series title in franchise history Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium in a 7-6 victory in game five.
