    Yellowstone’s Luke Grimes reveals why he had a ‘tough time’ filming Season 5 Part 2

    Returning to the Yellowstone set without Kevin Costner was undoubtedly a challenge for the rest of the cast, but that, plus a two-year gap between seasons, meant that Luke Grimes struggled to fall back into character at first.

    The last Yellow stone The episode aired in January 2023, meaning it’s been almost two years since the western drama hit the screens. It’s even longer for the Yellowstone Castwho returned to the Dutton ranch earlier this year to film the final six episodes of the series.

    Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton in Taylor Sheridan Seriesrevealed what it felt like to put those cowboy boots back on after such a long hiatus. Needless to say, it hasn’t been easy.

    “I was having a really hard time reconnecting.” he said (via Variety). “I’ve been playing this guy for a long time, but a two-year break… It’s hard to get the nuance back.”

    As he described it, it was reading the script for the last episode that helped him find Kayce.

    “Part of how I did it was I waited until the last minute to read the last episode,” he explained. “I had a feeling that was what was going to hook me, and it worked – I read the last episode and I was a mess. But then I thought, “I remember who he is now!” »

    It’s not just her own absence that Grimes has had to deal with. Kevin CostnerThe series’ release became the defining talking point of the final installment and subsequently led to the series’ early conclusion.

    When it came to returning to set without Costner in mind, Grimes said. (via People): “If he didn’t come back, it was like, ‘Okay, we’re going to have to land this plane now for real.’

    “I think the departure of the patriarch was always going to be part of the story. That’s always where it was headed, what are these kids doing? What does this family do when their rock disappears?

    “Whatever the circumstances, it was really like, ‘Okay, we’re coming in for a landing.’ It was definitely different.

    Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 returns November 10 on the Paramount Network.
