Romanian presidential candidate pledges to end military aid to Ukraine – World

NEW YORK, November 21. /TASS/. George Simion, leader of the Alliance for Romanian Unity and candidate in the upcoming Romanian presidential election, has pledged to end military aid to Ukraine if elected.

“We will not send military aid to Ukraine, and that does not make us pro-Russian,” Simion told reporters, according to the newspaper. Bloomberg. He added that he would continue to provide humanitarian aid and logistical support to kyiv and would also support Ukraine’s membership in the EU, but not its membership in NATO.

Bloomberg points out that Simion’s popularity has propelled him to second place in the polls, behind Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.

kyiv authorities had previously banned Simion from entering Ukraine for “systematic anti-Ukrainian activities.” He is also banned from entering Moldova, which he describes as an “artificial state”.

Romania will hold its presidential election on November 24, with a potential runoff on December 8.
