Moo Deng is a female pygmy hippopotamus born in July at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chon Buri, Thailand. Moo Deng is the seventh baby born at the zoo to his mother, Jona, 25, and father, Tony, 24, the Independent reports. Moo Deng’s popularity really took off when content creator Yammi Saracino translated the poll into English and I shared it on social media.

Why do people like Moo Deng so much?

Have you seen her? The little roly-poly viral star is just plain fun to watch. She is mischievous too; She is teething so she likes to bite her guardian. You will see her in many memes. Just as with the Grumpy Cat, dearly departed and other internet-famous animals, it’s easy to put a caption on a photo of Moo Deng that depicts her facing life like we do. BuzzFeed even has a Moo Deng AI Image Generator this puts her in all kinds of situations, like becoming president or eating Dole Whip at Disney World.
