Showers and cooler seasonal temperatures expected across metro Detroit

Temperatures in lower and southeast Michigan are returning to an expected cooler fall this week, according to the National Weather Service.

High pressure crossing the state will shift winds from the north to the east with lower speeds, NWS Detroit said in an article on X.

That means residents can expect less wind early in the week, said Sara Schultz, a meteorologist with the weather service.

Meteorologists expect seasonally cool temperatures in southeast Michigan on Tuesday, peaking at 49 degrees and as low as 27 with partial cloud cover.

In Detroit, the mercury could rise to 49 and fall to 36.

Temperatures will continue to hover around the low 50s like Wednesday.

A low pressure system arriving in the Great Lakes region Wednesday and Thursday will also bring rain showers into the evening, the NWS predicts.

Meteorologists also expect highs to stay above 50 Thursday and Friday.

Average temperatures for this time of year tend toward highs of 51 degrees and lows in the mid-30s, Schultz told The News.

“Nothing out of the ordinary,” she said of the conditions ahead. “It’s typical for this time of year.”
