The trade winds are expected to become stronger this weekend

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Breezy trade winds will strengthen and become breezy through the end of the week. Winds are expected to peak Friday through Saturday, with parts of the state reaching warning levels as early as Thursday. Showers will concentrate along windward mauka exposures, reaching the lee sides of small islands as winds strengthen. Increasing clouds and showers are expected to arrive along with stronger winds Friday into Saturday.

A high surf advisory beginning Wednesday at 6 a.m. HST has been issued for the north and west shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu and Molokai, as well as the north shores of Maui. A strong northwest swell has arrived and is expected to peak today with wave heights near the alert level. Surf along east-facing coasts is expected to reach the advisory level Thursday through Friday, then continue through the weekend.
