This mascot platformer takes you through multiple linear levels and sprinkles them with just the right amount of nostalgia and Easter eggs to keep players engaged. Despite its linear design, players will want to explore every nook and cranny of Astrobotto ensure nothing is left behind.

Backed by an excellent soundtrack and stunning mechanics, Astrobot is easily one of the best games of 2024. You don’t have to take our word for it, as this title has been nominated for the 2024 Game of the Year awards. With a Metacritic score of 94, it wouldn’t no surprise that he won everything.

Do Astrobot do you deserve to win the Game of the Year 2024 award?

Astrobot has been lovingly crafted and is celebrated by the masses for all its great platforming. It’s only been two months since the game was released, and fans still can’t help but get excited over the cuteness of the robots and the beauty of this title as a whole.

Although the enemies in this title leave a lot to be desired, it can easily be compared to Super Mario when it released. If a game draws comparisons to Mario, then it has already cemented its place among the best platform games.

What Team Asobi has been able to achieve with this title is enormous, and it certainly deserves its place among the nominees for Game of the Year 2024. However, with games like Metaphor: ReFantazio, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Balatro, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree and Black Myth: Wukong also in the running for GOTY, Astrobot could fail.

Balatro is an indie masterpiece, so other than that, every other game on the GOTY nominee list has bigger audiences than Astrobot. Combine that with the fact that this title isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and his chances of winning the 2024 GOTY are starting to look slim, even though he is fully worthy of the honor.

AstroBot, on the other hand, manages its crossovers with a lot of heart. Often the game will take you into the world of another franchise owned by PlayStation. During your time in this different world, you will have the opportunity to see a ton of Easter eggs, gain access to unique mechanics limited to this world, and you will also have the opportunity to see iconic character cameos dressed as one of the many robots in this game.

That feeling of diving into an old world but reliving it again is something Fortnite will never be able to replicate. Plus, Astro Bot will bombard you with nostalgia and Easter eggs, but the developers have struck a sweet balance that will never leave you feeling overwhelmed.
