A 33-year-old man will appear in a North West court on Monday charged with a triple family murder that shocked the village of Shaleng, near Taung.

Police spokesperson Colonel Adele Myburgh said the suspect was arrested on Saturday for the brutal murder of his 74-year-old father, Mosimanegape Kale, his 68-year-old mother, Phodisho, and his sister Bonolo , aged 27.

She added that he allegedly attacked them with a gun in their place on Friday evening, before fleeing.

Myburgh said paramedics were called and pronounced all three dead at the scene.

She said the suspect was arrested with the help of community members and would appear before the Kgomotso periodic court on three counts of murder.
