Fairmont Breakers Long Beach Officially Opens in Southern California

Accor’s luxury brand Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has a new property that’s every bit as California chic as Old Hollywood.

Fairmont Breakers Long Beach, which was located on TPG List of Most Anticipated Hotel Openings for 2024opened this month after undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation. The beachfront hotel, built in 1926, has hosted cinema legends like Elizabeth Taylor, Cary Grant and Clark Gable over the years. But no guest will be as glamorous as you, of course. The property was developed in partnership with Pacific6, a local investment and development group, and is participating in Accor Live Limited loyalty program.

“With the highly anticipated debut of the Fairmont Breakers Long Beach, we are not only bringing a piece of history back to life, but, along with our partners at Pacific6, we are also ushering in a new era of luxury for Long Beach,” said the CEO of Fairmont. Omer Acar said in a statement. “At the heart of who we are at Fairmont, we are at the social epicenter of the destination, celebrating life’s most important occasions together.”

The hotel has 185 accommodations, including 22 suites. In true Fairmont form, guests can expect luxury Le Labo amenities as well as stunning views of Long Beach Harbor or palm-lined downtown. The hotel’s renovation aims to offer both a coastal color palette and a mix of modern furnishings with nods to the past. The original plaster moldings, exterior ornamentation and even the lobby mailbox have been restored to their original 1920s fabulousness.

But guests will also have plenty of modern amenities like a luxury spa, a rooftop bar, and the return of the Sky Room, a fine-dining restaurant that opened in Long Beach in 1938 and serves views of the Pacific horizon as well as fresh seafood and tender steaks. Nettuno, an Italian restaurant, is sure to be a favorite among lunch and brunch lovers, while Halo, the hotel’s rooftop bar, is a decadent place to enjoy a martini as the sun sets. Those looking for more nods to the 1920s can head to Alter Ego, the Fairmont’s jazz bar that offers a dimly lit refuge to unwind after a long day.

The ultimate relaxation, however, will come to those who frequent the Fairmont Spa, a 10,000-square-foot luxury spa offering a wide menu of facial, massage and body treatment options.
