Barry Ferguson believes he must Scott Brown “a few kicks” – and expects to receive the same treatment when they fight again at the Scottish Masters.

The beloved 6-man tournament returns this week as the legends of RangersCeltic, Aberdeen and Dundee United will face off at the P&J Live Arena in Aberdeen. It will be broadcast live on BBC Scotland, with coverage from 7.15pm to 10pm on Thursday 14 November.

Last year was a fiery year and this year it probably won’t be any different. Certainly not if the Rangers captain Ferguson gets what he wants. He will reignite old rivalries with Scott Brown and others Celtic great years spent in the North East, and he will be looking to get his back after the Hoops won last year’s tournament. He said Gambling.com: “I can’t wait. It’s going to be great to see my ex-teammates again. We don’t see each other much, so it will be good to see them all again.

“And then meeting some of the players you were playing against a few years ago. Even though they’re a lot younger than me, I’m probably going to be one of the oldest there.

“I don’t know if I’ll get a brilliant reception in Aberdeen, but no, I’m looking forward to it. It’s always a good event. Unfortunately I missed it last year because I had a problem knee and I had an operation, I did a little training, so I’m ready to go.

“I think I’ll owe him (Scott Brown) a few kicks and he’ll owe me a few kicks. So it’ll be fun, I’m looking forward to it.

“Obviously you don’t see them (Brown and other former rivals) a lot now – you see them every once in a while. It’s good to compete against guys you’ve had a few good battles with.”
