Although Harris’ campaign provided no official comment, reporters who accompanied her were taken to the headquarters of NBC, the network that airs the popular comedy show. Two sources confirmed his participation. The episode is scheduled to air at 11:30 p.m. ET (03:30 GMT), giving Harris a high-profile platform to connect with voters in the latter part of the campaign. Reuters reported.

An appearance on “Saturday Night Live” would add some surprise in the run-up to Tuesday’s presidential election.

The long-running show “Saturday Night Live” previously hosted Democratic candidate Barack Obama and Republican candidate John McCain in 2008, as well as Donald Trump in 2004, long before his political career began.

Earlier Saturday, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump’s planes were seen together on the tarmac in Charlotte, North Carolina. This close meeting highlighted the concentration of candidates on a few selected states where the outcome of Tuesday’s US presidential election will be determined.

It was the fourth consecutive day of campaigning for both candidates in North Carolina. Only seven states, including North Carolina, are considered truly competitive. Interestingly, a recent Des Moines Register poll released Saturday indicates that Harris has taken a surprising lead in Iowa, a state that Trump won convincingly in the last two elections. This shift in voter sentiment could prove crucial as the election approaches.

Harris campaigned in Charlotte, North Carolina, with rock star Bon Jovi, while Trump held a rally in suburban Gastonia. It was unclear whether he was on his plane when Harris arrived.

Trump and Harris stuck to familiar themes during their appearances.

Trump said he would deport millions of immigrants if elected and warned that if Harris won, “every city in America would be turned into a squalid and dangerous refugee camp.”

Campaigning in Atlanta, Harris said Trump would abuse his power if he returned to the White House.

“He is someone who is increasingly unstable, obsessed with revenge, consumed by grievances, and this man is seeking unchecked power,” she said.

More than 72 million Americans have already voted, according to the University of Florida Election Lab, falling short of 2020’s record pace of early voting during COVID-19 but still indicating a high level of enthusiasm voters. Reuters reported.

In North Carolina, western counties devastated by Hurricane Helene appear to be voting at about the same rate as the rest of the state, according to Michael Bitzer, a political science professor at Catawba College.

Trump criticized the federal government’s response to the disaster and reiterated his false claim that aid was diverted from the state to help immigrants entering the country.
