Additionally, the team used a cobalt-rich coating on the surface of the cathode material to also prevent microcracks and improve mechanical stability.

Overall, the authors of paper noted a greatly improved cycling stability (the lifespan of the battery) and a high specific discharge capacity (improved autonomy).
