The Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today issued the following statement on the occasion of the 76th birthday of His Majesty King Charles III:

“Today, I join Canadians, the people of the Commonwealth and around the world in celebrating the 76th birthday of His Majesty King Charles III.

“For decades, Her Majesty has championed progress on important issues, including climate action, conservation, healthcare and education. His plea reflects our collective desire to build a better and fairer future for each generation.

“Throughout her life, Her Majesty maintained a close relationship with our country. His first official tour of Canada took place in 1970 and since then his visits have helped build strong connections with our communities. I hope that Her Majesty’s relationship with Canada will only strengthen over the many years to come.
