“People feed off my emotions in a positive way”

CINCINNATI- Joe Burrow was clearly frustrated during Bengals’ 41-24 win over Raiders.

He voiced his opinion on the sidelines and wasn’t shy about making his feelings known in his post-match press conference.

“Maybe my behavior could be a little better sometimes” Burrow said with a smile on Tuesday afternoon.

Burrow is playing as well as any quarterback in the NFL. He completed 70.2% of his passes for 2,242 yards, 20 touchdowns and just four interceptions. Despite his exceptional play, the Bengals started the season 1-4.

Burrow called their game against the Raiders a “must-win” then went out there and completed his first 15 passes, tying a career high with five touchdown passes and was still angry after the game.

“Maybe I could have not let my emotions show as much, but that’s also something I tried to do more of,” Burrow said. “I know people in the dressing room wanted me to do a little more, whether it was good or bad, but that’s not possible. I don’t think, at least, that I couldn’t show my emotion in a positive way And then when things aren’t going well, don’t let it be known either.

Tom Brady played with this emotion, especially once he established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Peyton Manning played with that fire and drive.

Neither guy would hesitate to yell at his teammates or express his displeasure if something didn’t go well.

“That’s the standard he has, the standard he set for the team,” » said Ja’Marr Chase. “His accomplishments and the level of greatness he wants to achieve, he hasn’t reached it yet, that’s why he holds himself to those standards.

“That’s always been him. He’s always been that kind of guy that holds himself to standards. He just does it more vocally now.”

Burrow is clearly more vocal and he seems comfortable in this role, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to have a short fuse every week.

“It’s give and take. I know that people feed off my emotion in a positive way,” Burrow said. “It’s hard for me, as a quarterback, I think I play my best when I’m like that (even angry). I’m not up and down, angry, then happy and all that. I play my best when I am even if it is stuck, I will choose the places where I have to say something positive or negative, while keeping a balance between what I have to do to go on the field and well. play. ”

Burrow is certainly playing very well. The Bengals need this to continue if they want to have any chance of upsetting the Ravens on Thursday Night Football.
