But he ended his 12-match goal drought in sensational fashion by latching onto a perfect ball from centre-back Raul Asencio and lobbing it over Osasuna keeper Sergio Herrera.

The England international was obviously relieved to have scored giving Madrid a two-goal buffer, having already provided the assist for Vinicius JuniorThe opening strike.

Bellingham then kissed the badge and showed off his celebration.

It was debutant Asencio, however, who received the adulation of his teammates, for his superb pass from inside his own half.

The 21-year-old was making his debut as an early substitute in place of Eder Militao, who was stretchered off with a serious knee injury.

Asencio’s assist also made him the third youngest Spanish defender to provide an assist for Real Madrid in the last 11 years.
