Students leave NIT and other top colleges for advanced third attempt of JEE, JAB U-turn creates chaos

In a shocking move for students, the Joint Admission Board (JAB) has reverted to its earlier rule of allowing only two attempts for the JEE Advanced exam. The decision was announced in a press release following the JAB meeting on November 15, where members agreed to reinstate the criteria established in 2013, reversing the recent provision allowing three attempts.

Earlier, on November 5, IIT Kanpur had issued a press release stating that candidates will get three chances to appear for JEE Advanced. This announcement led many students, who had exhausted their two attempts, to take a gap year at their current college in the hope of reappearing in the JEE Advanced 2025 exam. However, with the latest decision of the JAB, these students are now facing uncertainty about their future.
