(WASHINGTON) – As the race approaches a week until Election Day, Kamala Harris is set to deliver her “closing argument” Tuesday night on The Ellipse – the same place where Donald Trump rallied his supporters on January 6, 2021 to to walk. on the nearby U.S. Capitol.

Trump will try to preempt Harris’ remarks when he speaks to reporters Tuesday morning at Mar-a-Lago after declaring he was “the opposite of a Nazi” Monday night in Georgia. He later organized a rally in Allentown, Pennsylvania, with a large population of Puerto Rican Americans.

More than 47 million Americans voted early

As of 5:45 a.m. ET as of Tuesday, more than 47 million Americans had voted early, according to the University of Florida Election Lab.

Of the total early votes, 24,243,105 were cast in person and 23,384,971 were returned by mail.

There is only one week left until Election Day.

Trump tells ABC’s Scott he didn’t hear comedian’s comment on Puerto Rico and won’t denounce him

The former president has denied knowing the comedian who made a slew of racist, sexist and vulgar comments during his rally at Madison Square Garden, ABC News senior congressional correspondent Rachel Scott reports.

This comedian, Tony Hinchcliffe, made headlines in part for calling Puerto Rico an “island of floating garbage.”

“I don’t know him, someone put him up there.” I don’t know who he is,” Trump told ABC’s Scott.

Trump also insisted he had not heard any of the comments, even though they were broadcast on television and written about extensively. When asked what he thought about them, he did not take the opportunity to denounce them, repeating that he had not heard the comments.

Trump said he was confident he would win the White House with just a week to go.

Harris prepares to deliver her closing remarks on The Ellipse, near the Capitol and the White House

Harris will deliver a speech at the Ellipse Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Harris’ campaign said it plans to portray Trump as someone who is consumed by his grievances and an endless desire for retaliation, emphasizing his promise to go after those on his “enemies list and how this contrasts with Harris’ emphasis on her “making the list.”

Her final argument will highlight what she claims is Americans’ desire to “turn the page” on Trump by focusing on his plans and priorities for the country, namely the economy. The vice president has promised to cut costs and prioritize the middle class in her “opportunity economy.”

Fallout continues from comedian’s comment about Puerto Rico at Trump rally

Trump is expected to deliver a speech to reporters at 10 a.m. ET in Florida before traveling to Pennsylvania – a swing state with a large Puerto Rican population.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, a Democrat, said in a radio interview Monday: “We are the proud home of about half a million Puerto Ricans. I’m damn proud to be their governor.

Trump’s campaign tried to distance itself from comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s comments, saying they did not reflect his views. Ohio Sen. JD Vance, Trump’s running mate, told reporters Monday that he hadn’t seen the comedian’s comment but that people needed to “stop being so offended.”

Trump did not address the Puerto Rico comment during his Georgia rally Monday night, although he called the New York event “one of the greatest rallies in the history of the world.”

Meanwhile, former President Barack Obama criticized Trump for his anti-immigration rhetoric during his rally at MSG while campaigning for Harris. “He’s talking about his people,” Obama told a crowd gathered in Philadelphia.
