With the WPL 2025 auctions fast approaching, Mumbai Indians Women announced their list of retained and released players on Thursday (November 7). The champions of the inaugural edition did not make many changes to their base unit, holding back the players. like Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Natalie Sciver-Brunt and Yastika Bhatia.

Harmanpreet is expected to take up the captaincy role again, while Yastika is expected to don the wicketkeeping gloves. Meanwhile, the versatile Hayley Matthews has also been retained by the franchise, and she will be seen opening alongside Yastika in the popular franchise’s usual combination.

South African Chloe Tryon also found her name in the list of successful candidates, and she was joined in the list alongside names like Amanjot Kaur, Amandeep Kaur, Jintimani Kalita, Keerthana B and Saika Ishaque. In addition, Indian players like Pooja Vastrakar and Sajana Sajeevan are also retained, making a total of fourteen players retained by the franchise for the next edition.

However, Issy Wong was among the most shocking names among the set of players released by the Mumbai-based franchise. Other players released by the franchise include Fatima Jaffer, Humairaa Kaazi and Priyanka Bala, all of whom are Indian players.
