CNN anchor John Berman was stunned by an analyst’s explosive suggestion Bakari Sellers — this president Joe Biden Should Rush for Vice President Nomination and Confirmation Kamala Harris to the Supreme Court.

Political playbook headed Friday morning with an article on discussions among Democrats to encourage the Supreme Court justice Sonia Sotomayor retire and impose a replacement to avoid the risk of giving Trump a replacement choice for liberal justice.

Friday edition of CNN News CentralBerman and CNN Republican analyst Shermichael Singleton were stunned — and Singleton was amused — by Sellers’ provocative idea to elevate Harris before Trump and the Republicans could stop her:

JOHN BERMAN: And put it all down. No room for error or delay. What do you think of this Bakari?

BAKARI SELLERS: No, I think it’s actually a very good plan. I think this is something that should happen.

You know, Judge Sotomayor was a more than competent judge. I know she may have some personal issues that she faces while serving on the bench. But you know, I don’t want Justice Sotomayor to be another Ruth Bader Ginsburg in terms of staying too long.

What does this mean for court dynamics? Court is at six three now. If we manage to replace him with a Biden justice, there will still be six threes. The possibility that Justice Sotomayor will have to resign or retire within the next four years is extremely high.

You associate that with Alito and Clarence Thomas. That then means you go from a 6-3 court to a 7-2 court in terms of conservative versus liberal. So I hope Joe Biden makes the next ten weeks as consequential as possible.

I don’t care about going out of line or what the Republicans might think. This is within your jurisdiction. You can actually do it and you should do it.

And you know, one more thing, John, is you’ve got a heck of a vice president there who has a legal pedigree to serve on the Supreme Court. And let the Republicans go crazy, monkey, I even mention that option.

JOHN BERMAN: Are you floating – are you floating at that time -, you know, at 7:39 on the East Coast? Did Bakari Sellers just introduce Vice President Kamala Harris as a potential Supreme Court nominee?

BAKARI SELLERS: Not only do I float it, I want to stir it all up. I want people’s heads to explode this morning. So we head into the weekend knowing that the chaos isn’t over yet.

JOHN BERMAN: So, Sher.ichael. Did it work, which brokerages did it?

SHERMICHAEL SINGLETON: I mean, look, this is an idea that I haven’t heard anyone mention until now. But good luck getting around Mitch McConnell, who is arguably one of the most surgical people to ever lead or hold the minority position in the U.S. Senate.

I think if the Democrats tried to nominate the vice president or anyone else, I think Mitch would do everything he can within the confines of the Senate rules to ban it, to give the new president the opportunity to make each nomination and ultimately confirm the nominations he can.

JOHN BERMAN: It can be done quickly. Look, we saw him perform with Amy Coney Barrett. We, you know, it would take a lot of maneuvering from Chuck Schumer at this point and John Manchin on board and Sinema.

SHERMICHAEL SINGLETON: And I respect Chuck Schumer, but Chuck Schumer is not Mitch McConnell. I just don’t see that happening. Could Mitch do something like this? Abso-freakin-lutey! Mandrel? Yeah, I wouldn’t, I wouldn’t hold my breath on that.

JOHN BERMAN: That’s right. Now you guys are making things happen! Things are happening on a Friday morning!
