Luke Combs and Eric Church concert for Carolina: 8 best moments

It was perhaps the ultimate irony that the concert for Carolina on Saturday evening (October 26) to benefit Hurricane Helene relief, organized by Luc Combs And Eric Churchwas delayed nearly two hours due to bad weather, with customers sent to take shelter in the concourse of Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, home of the Carolina Panthers.

Scheduled to start at 5 p.m., the show finally started around 7 p.m., but once it started, the fast-paced concert never stopped until the finale at 1 a.m. In doing so, the evening raised the colossal sum of $24.5 million for the victims of the storm. Western North Carolina, thanks in part to the Panthers and stadium owners David and Nicole Tepper donating the facilities and to vendors donating all the money raised from concessions, merchandise and parking.

Ten days after the largest disaster in North Carolina history, on September 26, Combs and Church announced an all-star concert with Billy Cordes and favorite native Tar Heel son James Taylor. Then they just kept adding names: Keith Urban, Sheryl Corbeau, Bailey Zimmerman and my fellow North Carolinians Scotty McCreery, Chase the riceTHE Avett Brothers And Parmalee.

It turned out to be the perfect mix, and the good vibes were evident from the start as Church kicked off the slightly revised show with a beautiful acoustic version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” on the revolving stage set up on the 50-yard line . It was like an opening prayer for an evening dedicated to unity and solidarity. The outside world may seem more divided than ever, but for the 82,193 people in the stadium for the six-hour spectacle, the sense of community and camaraderie was palpable.

Here are the highlights of an evening.
