The Indian Army has announced the official notification of the 35th Judge Advocate General (JAG) Entry Scheme, which is expected to commence in October 2025. This scheme invites unmarried male and female law graduates to apply for positions as an officer of the Short Service Commission (SSC) in the JAG. branch of the Indian Army. Eligible and interested candidates can submit their application through the official recruitment portal at joinindianarmy.nic.in. According to the official timetable, applicants only have 10 days left to apply. The deadline to apply for this recruitment is November 28. A total of 8 JAG positions will be filled, including 4 positions reserved for men and 4 for women.

Eligibility criteria:

Applicants must possess an LLB degree (either a 3 year course after graduation or a 5 year course after completing 10+2) with at least 55 percent marks from a recognized university. Additionally, the candidate must have a valid CLAT PG 2024 score to apply. Applicants must also be eligible for registration as an advocate with the Bar Council of India or the State Bar Council. The degree must be obtained from a college or university recognized by the Bar Council of India.

Age limit:

Applicants must be no younger than 21 years old and no older than 27 years old as of the last application date, November 28.

Salary and benefits:

Candidates selected for this post will undergo 49 weeks of training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai. During the training period, they will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 56,100. On completion of the training, they will be paid as per the pay scale designated for their role in the Army. In addition to the basic salary, candidates will be entitled to various allowances, including military service allowance of Rs. 15,500. The pay scale for the post of lieutenant is between Rs. 56,100 and Rs. 1,77,500.

Selection process:

The selection process will take place in two phases:

  1. Interview with the Service Selection Board (SSB): This will involve a thorough assessment of the candidate’s skills and suitability for the role.
  2. Medical examination: A medical examination will be carried out to assess the physical and mental condition of the candidates.
