Man charged with possessing knife in public place in Walsall

A man has been arrested and charged with possessing a knife in a public place in Walsall.

Kyle Sankey was arrested on Ablewell Street early on Thursday morning after officers from West Midlands Police were called to the scene.

The 29-year-old was arrested and a knife recovered at the scene, while he was also charged with failing or refusing to provide a sample for a class A drug test.

Sankey appeared at Walsall Magistrates’ Court on Friday and was remanded in custody to appear at the Magistrates’ Court again on November 29 at 10am.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We have arrested and charged a man for possessing a knife in a public place in Walsall.

“Kyle Sankey, 29, will appear at Walsall Magistrates’ Court today (Friday) for an initial hearing.

“He was also charged with failing/refusing to provide a sample for a Class A drug test.

“Police were called to Ablewell Street shortly after 2.20am yesterday (Thursday) where we recovered a knife and arrested a man.”
