Microsoft’s Windows 11 24H2 issues keep getting worse, with new update now causing crashes on Intel motherboards

Microsoftit’s new Windows 11 24H2 Update caused Intel Z890 motherboards to crash or reboot constantly, forcing users to change BIOS settings to find a solution. This is another entry in the growing list of problems faced by Windows users with the major update.

According to to a message (in Spanish) from El Chapuzas Informaticowho have been following the situation closely, the problem with the Z890 motherboard appears to stem from an apparent conflict between the dedicated and integrated GPUs. This doesn’t seem to be limited to a specific mobo either; This problem would occur with cards from several brands, including MSI and Gigabyte. It’s unclear at this point whether the fault lies directly with Microsoft’s update, or whether Intel bears some responsibility here too.

The solution to the crashes requires users to enter the motherboard BIOS and disable their system’s integrated graphics before making the necessary BIOS updates. Fortunately, it doesn’t look like this issue will cause irreparable damage to users’ maps, but it’s clear that Microsoft needs to release a patch as soon as possible to avoid any further potential issues.
