RFK Jr. picks new U.S. health chiefs, friends say

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has reportedly taken on the role of chief recruiter for top positions within the US government’s health agencies, a sign that President-elect Donald Trump has allowed him to “go wild on health”, as promised.

The former independent presidential candidate, who joined Trump’s team in late August, “reviewed candidate resumes” for senior positions at the Department of Health and Human Services and Food and Drug Administration, Reuters reported.

Kennedy has a long history of coming up with wild theories about public health care.

Some of the more outlandish claims include that water chemicals make children transgender, vaccines cause autism in children, Anthony Fauci was paid billions of dollars to make bioweapons, and 5G networks could damage human DNA.

He says he is not anti-vaccine despite being the founder of Children’s Health Defense, one of the largest national organizations that has been accused of producing “mortal“Disinformation campaigns about COVID-19 vaccines.

As early signs suggest, many of these theories are likely to inform policymaking under the new Trump administration.

Two days before Americans went to the polls, Kennedy appeared to officially announce that fluoride would be removed from America’s water systems.

“Fluoride is an industrial waste associated with arthritis, bone fractures, bone cancer, IQ loss, neurodevelopmental disorders and thyroid disease,” he said in an article on X .

The move would end 80 years of fluoridated water for more than 200 million Americans, although the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is celebrating its introduction as one of the greatest public health interventions of the century.

Trump’s campaign team said Reuters that Kennedy would be a key player in Washington DC.

“The American people re-elected President Trump by resounding margins because they trust his judgment and support his policies, including his promise to make America healthy alongside well-respected leaders like RFK Jr,” Trump-Vance transition spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said in a statement. e-mail.

No confirmation has come from Trump’s presidential team about which position Kennedy will fill. He could only become an advisor, according to former Kennedy campaign communications director Del Bigtree.

“President Trump is giving him two years to demonstrate success,” Bigtree said. “President Trump is keenly interested in the selections that Bobby Kennedy believes would get the job done.”

He also said Kennedy would recommend doctors who do not have “conflicts of interest” with big pharmaceutical companies involved in producing vaccines and drugs.

Bigtree is involved in proposing appointments to Kennedy, having become executive director of the Make America Healthy Again Action organization, which seeks to follow through on Kennedy’s health campaign promises.

Kennedy, a former environmental lawyer with no medical or science degree, is also supported by his daughter-in-law Amaryllis Fox Kennedy and investor Omeed Malik.
