ALPENA — The Lost Lake Woods Club of Lincoln recently completed its annual auction event, raising more than $1,000 for the Breast Health Fund at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena.

The auction included chairs, decorations and other furniture, which club members decoratively painted with beautiful designs, such as flowers and themed pieces, to create functional works of art. The items were on display and open for auction during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

“We are so grateful to our friends at Lost Lake Woods Club,” said Ann Diamond, director of the MyMichigan Health Foundation. “They have provided tremendous support to our breast health program over the years. They regularly host the Chair-ity auction, as well as their Rally for a Cure golf outing. Both events raise awareness of breast cancer while raising funds for local breast health patients. The people behind these projects, especially Paulette Kallstrom who is a breast cancer survivor herself, are truly passionate about this cause and we are so grateful for all of their hard work.

The MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena Breast Health Fund supports breast cancer prevention, screening, diagnostic testing, educational services, equipment and patient care items. This includes access for eligible individuals to financial assistance for screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, breast biopsy, interpretation fees, post-cancer surgery support materials breast cancer, genetic counseling for breast cancer and transportation needs.
